Founded in 2000, the Diversity in Organizations, Communities & Nations Research Network emerged from early debates on multiculturalism, social cohesion, and equity in education, workplaces, and civic life. Its inaugural conference at the University of Technology Sydney laid the groundwork for what has become a global forum for examining how difference is lived, institutionalized, negotiated, and transformed across communities and organizations. Over more than two decades, the Network has expanded to encompass diverse research traditions—from sociology, political theory, and organizational studies to cultural studies and education—while remaining grounded in the idea that diversity is both a challenge and a resource for collective flourishing.
The International Conference on Diversity in Organizations, Communities & Nations is hosted each year in partnership with a leading university. It provides a space for scholarly and practical exchange on inclusion, governance, and cultural pluralism. Recent hosts include University of Nicosia (Cyprus), Lusiada University (Portugal), University of Toronto (Canada), and University of Patras (Greece). Proposals and presentations are welcomed in both English and Spanish, reflecting the Network’s commitment to multilingual inquiry and global participation.
The Diversity in Organizations, Communities & Nations Journal Collection publishes peer-reviewed research that advances understanding of identity, equity, power, and participation across the social sciences and humanities. Articles examine issues such as migration, labor, race and ethnicity, gender, social movements, institutional practices, and policy frameworks. All submissions undergo double-anonymous, rubric-guided peer review with constructive editorial feedback, and the Collection maintains clear pathways from conference presentations and Knowledge Community contributions to fully developed, peer-reviewed publications. Submissions are accepted in English and Spanish.
The Diversity in Organizations, Communities & Nations Book Imprint publishes monographs and edited volumes that bridge theory and practice, exploring diversity through institutional, cultural, historical, and policy perspectives. The Imprint supports English- and Spanish-language projects and welcomes contributions that articulate new approaches to inclusion, governance, and social transformation in local and global contexts.
The Diversity in Organizations, Communities & Nations Research Network’s Member Knowledge Community on CGScholar is a year-round hub for member engagement—keeping profiles, projects, and conversations in motion. Built for collaboration, it pairs a multimodal authoring environment with light, community-guided review to strengthen clarity, purpose, and reader context before sharing. Works in progress sit alongside programs, recordings, and calls, connecting conference contributions with our journals and book imprint, and offering structured pathways for ongoing participation and publication across inclusion, policy, labor, migration, and civic life. A dedicated Spanish-language community supports members who wish to post, review, and publish entirely in Spanish.

The Network is chaired by Dr. Eugenia Arvanitis, Assistant Professor of Interculturality & Diversity in Education at the University of Patras, Greece, and co-chaired by Dr. Carmen Miguel Vicente and Dr. Mari Ángeles Medina Sánchez, both of University of Granada, Spain. Their leadership reflects the Network’s commitment to global dialogue and bilingual accessibility.
